What Pro adds

A quick tour of the new tabs, the extra pages and the stronger banner.

Pro adds three new tabs and makes everything you already have stronger. Nothing to set up: most of it works the moment Pro is switched on.

Pro switches on by itselfPro is built into Legal Eagle and uses the same key. After buying, it switches on by itself within a few hours. To switch it on now, open License and click Check now. Show me how

Add a Pro page

  1. Open Legal Pages

Click Legal Pages. The Pro pages are in the list with the others.

  2. Press Create page

Find the page you need, for example Shipping Policy, and press Create page.

  3. See its history

Once a page has changed, its card shows a link like 2 versions. Every version is kept, and visitors can read old versions at the bottom of the page.

You're ready. Start with videos, regions and languages, then proof of agreement.

Chapter 2 · 4 minutes

Videos, regions and languages

Hold YouTube and maps until visitors agree, set rules per country, and speak the visitor's language.

Pro adds three things to Cookie Banner: click-to-load cards for videos and maps, different rules for different countries, and a banner that speaks your visitor's language.

Hold videos and maps until visitors agree

A YouTube video or Google Map on your page tells Google about the visitor before they've said yes. Embed Shield stops that.

  1. Open Cookie Banner and scroll down

Click Cookie Banner and scroll to Embed Shield.

  2. Turn on the two switches

Turn on Hold YouTube, Vimeo, Maps and other embeds until visitors agree 1.

Turn on Show video thumbnails from your own server 2 too. The picture on the card comes from your own site, so nothing goes to Google before the click.

Embed Shield with its two switches
  3. Save and look

Press Save changes. Open a page with a video in a private window. You'll see a card with a play button and a short note. The video loads when the visitor clicks it.

Different rules for different countries

Europe asks for more than the U.S. does. With rules by region, each visitor gets the right banner for where they are.

  1. Turn on rules by region

In Rules by region, turn on Use a different rule for each part of the world.

  2. Pick a rule for each region

    Each region has three buttons:

    • Must say yes: nothing tracks until the visitor agrees.
    • Inform, can opt out: tracking starts, and the visitor can say no.
    • No banner: no banner at all.
Rules by region: a row of three buttons for each part of the world
The safe setupKeep Europe, the UK, Switzerland, Canada and Brazil on Must say yes. The United States can use Inform, can opt out. When a browser sends a "do not sell" signal (Global Privacy Control), it's always respected.
  3. Save

Press Save changes. These rules replace the "Who has to say yes?" choice higher up.

Speak the visitor's language

  1. Turn on languages

In Languages and ad platforms, turn on Show the banner in the visitor's language. The banner then shows in Spanish, French, German and 10 more languages, based on the visitor's browser.

    Languages and ad platforms switches

If you changed the words yourself, your words are kept.

  2. Using Microsoft Clarity or Microsoft Ads?

Turn on Send consent to Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Ads. Microsoft needs this for visitors in Europe.

Done. Your banner now follows local rules and speaks your visitor's language.

Chapter 3 · 3 minutes

Consent Insights and the self-improving banner

See how visitors answer your banner, and let it test a friendlier wording by itself.

Insights shows how visitors answer your cookie banner. It can also test a friendlier wording on its own and keep the one that works better.

  1. Read the four numbers

Click Insights. The four boxes at the top cover the last 30 days:

    • Opt-in rate: how many visitors pressed "Accept all". Higher means more visitors show up in your analytics.
    • Choices: how many visitors answered the banner.
    • Customized: visitors who picked only some kinds of cookies.
    • Rejected: visitors who said no to everything optional.
The four numbers and the chart of choices per day
  2. Look at the chart and the lists

Choices per day shows each day's answers. Below it, you can compare the opt-in rate by region, by device (phone or computer) and by language.

TipPhone visitors usually accept less. If your phone opt-in is low, try the Bottom bar look in Cookie Banner. It covers less of a small screen.
  3. Start the self-improving banner

Scroll to Self-optimizing banner and press Start the test.

Half your visitors now see your wording (A), and half see a friendlier wording (B). Both have the same fair "Reject all" button, so it stays legal.

The self-optimizing banner test, with version B marked Winner
  4. Let it pick the winner

You don't need to do anything. When one wording clearly wins, Legal Eagle switches to it for everyone and marks it Winner.

Prefer your own words? Press Go back to my wording. To stop a test early, press Stop the test.

Why does the opt-in rate matter? Visitors who say no are invisible in Google Analytics and can't be shown your ads. A friendlier banner means more of your real traffic gets counted, without breaking any rules.
Good to knowThe test runs on English-language sites. The numbers start once visitors answer your banner, so a new site may show "No choices yet" for a day or two.

Answer privacy requests

When a visitor asks for their data, answer in two clicks before the deadline.

Privacy laws let visitors ask for a copy of their data, or ask you to delete it. You have about 30 days to answer. Requests collects these requests, counts down the days, and does the work for you.

How requests arriveVisitors fill in the form on your Privacy Requests page. They get an email to confirm it's really them. Then it shows up here, and the number on the tab goes up, like Requests (2).
  1. Open Requests

Click Requests. Each request shows what the visitor wants 1, their email, and the time left 2. Orange means the deadline is close; red means it's late.

Privacy requests with the time left, Handle it and Mark done
  2. Press Handle it

Press Handle it 3. This opens WordPress's own privacy tool for that person.

    • Get a copy: WordPress builds a file with their data. Click Send export link and they get an email with a download link.
    • Delete data: click Erase personal data. WordPress removes their details from comments, accounts and forms that support it.
  3. Come back and press Mark done

Go back to Requests and press Mark done 4. The request moves to Done, with the date, so you have a record.

Deadline remindersIn Settings, turn on Email me when a privacy request is due within 7 days. You'll get a reminder email.
What if I sell through another service? WordPress can only find data stored on your site. If you also use an email list or a shop platform, remove or export the person there too. It usually takes a minute in their settings.

The Proof of agreement list

Lower on the same tab, Proof of agreement lists everyone who ticked your "I agree" box: when, who, where, and which version of your Terms and Privacy Policy they agreed to. Press Download all records (CSV) to save it. Set up the "I agree" box.

Chapter 5 · 4 minutes

Proof of agreement and policy updates

Add an "I agree" box to checkout and sign-up, keep records, and tell visitors when policies change.

If there's ever a dispute, you need to show that a customer agreed to your terms, and to which version. Pro adds an "I agree" box to your forms and writes down every agreement. It can also tell returning visitors when your policies change.

  1. Choose where the "I agree" box goes

Click Settings and scroll to Proof of agreement. Turn on the places you want it:

    • WooCommerce checkout: before someone buys.
    • WordPress sign-up form: when someone makes an account.
    • Comment form: when a visitor who isn't logged in leaves a comment.
Proof of agreement, Policy updates and AI labels in Settings

You can type your own wording for the box, or leave it empty to use ours.

Using the new WooCommerce block checkout? It has its own terms box. Turn it on in WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced. The classic checkout uses ours.
  2. Need it on another form?

Put the shortcode [wple_agree] into that form. It shows the same box and records the agreement the same way.

  3. Tell visitors when your policies change

In Policy updates, turn on Tell returning visitors when your policies change. When your Privacy Policy or Terms change, returning visitors see a small note, "We updated our Privacy Policy", with a link to what changed.

Every version is kept and listed at the bottom of the page, so anyone can see what it said on a given date.

  4. Turn on deadline emails

Turn on Email me when a privacy request is due within 7 days.

  5. Label AI-written posts (if you use AI)

Turn on AI labels on posts. In the post editor you'll get an "AI label" box to mark posts written with AI. New EU rules ask for this from August 2026.

  6. Save

    Press Save changes.

Where are the records? Open Requests and look at Proof of agreement. Press Download all records (CSV) to keep a copy.

Chapter 6 · 4 minutes

Your Accessibility Score

Find the problems that cause accessibility complaints, and fix several with one switch.

Accessibility means people with disabilities can use your site, for example with a screen reader that reads the page out loud, or with only a keyboard. Complaints and lawsuits about it are common. Accessibility checks your key pages and fixes several problems for you.

Two different scoresYour Protection Score (on Home) is about the legal basics. Your Accessibility Score (purple, with the eye) is about how easy the site is to use. They're separate. When your Accessibility Score is 90 or more, your Protection Score gets 10 extra points.
  1. Run the check

Click Accessibility. The first time, press Run the checkup. After that, press Check again whenever you've made changes. It takes a few seconds.

The purple Accessibility Score with what it means
  2. Turn on the automatic fixes

Scroll to Automatic fixes and turn them all on :

    • Add text descriptions to images that have none
    • Give embedded videos and maps a title
    • Allow pinch-zoom on phones
    • Set the page language if the theme forgot
The four automatic fixes, all switched on

Then press Check again. Your score goes up.

  3. Fix what's left

Each problem that's left shows what's wrong, why it matters, and the page it's on. Click the page link 1 to open it.

A problem card: links with no text, with the pages it was found on

    Common quick fixes:

    ProblemWhat to do
Images with no descriptionIn Media, click the image and fill in Alternative Text, e.g. "Red roses in a garden".
Links with no textAn icon or picture is used as a link. Add a short label to it in your theme or page builder, like "Instagram".
Form fields without a labelA box in a form has no name, only gray example text. Turn on the field's label in your form plugin.
Headings skip a levelUse Heading 2 after Heading 1, and Heading 3 after Heading 2, like chapters in a book.
Honest noteAutomatic checks find the most common problems, not all of them. For a shop or a big site, having a person test with a screen reader is a good next step.
Goal: 90 or more. That's also worth 10 points on your Protection Score. Your Accessibility Statement page (in Legal Pages) tells visitors how to contact you if something is hard to use.
